Officials say a 10-year-old boy and adult woman died in a Georgia house fire on Monday.

Douglas County spokesman Rick Martin tells news outlets that the child and the 28-year-old woman who died Tuesday night were cousins. Martin says two firefighters were injured, but have been treated and released from a hospital.

The fire broke started around 9:30 p.m. Monday and firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the home.

Family members went into the home and tried to locate the victims but they were overcome by strong heat and smoke. The family tried a second time to enter the home to save their family members according to FOX 5 reports, but the firefighters would not let them enter.

Martin says the cause of the fire has not been determined. Two other people escaped the house unharmed.

The victims have been identified as 10-year-old Jermaude Earl and 28-year-old Stacia Williams.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
