A smoother ride in the works for motorists on Hwy 27 in Walker Country

Work could begin soon on resurfacing Hwy 27/State Route 1 in Walker County. Georgia DOT has recently awarded a contract to Northwest Georgia Paving, Inc. of Calhoun, Georgia, valued at over five million dollars for a construction project to resurface an 11-mile portion of the highway. The project includes 11.520 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on US 27, beginning south of Grant Street and extending to the Catoosa County line.
