AllOnGeorgia – Camden reached out to Camden County Sheriff’s office to ask for an update on the county gun range.

Captain Kevin Chaney, who is overseeing the project, said that the gun range is waiting for the completion of an ecological survey by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The county has a grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service coordinated through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources amounting to $750,000 to be used to build the proposed gun range.

Chaney mentioned that the results of the survey would need to be reviewed by the Department of Corrections to utilize the grant issued by DNR.  Captain Chaney stated that he expects a meeting in December to review all relevant information which includes architectural plans for the gun range facility. Chaney expects groundbreaking to occur the around the first of the year.
